The announcement has been made and I'm sure all of you tool freaks are just as excited about it as I am. There's been lots of anticipation building over the new M18 FUEL  21” Self-Propelled Dual Battery

Mower by Milwaukee and I'm sure they know just how much faith is in their hands with this one. for years I've trusted Milwaukee tools, from their roided-out impact drivers to the hurricane-force winds of their yard blowers, they pretty much always seem to get it right. And with their recent press release, its crystal clear that it's hard for them to hold back their excitement:

“When we set out to develop our first mower, we focused on designing a solution that could outperform gas mowers and deliver a superior cut quality. Leveraging our M18 FUEL™ technology, the electronic package delivers the power to maintain blade speed in demanding applications without bogging down while also offering instantaneous throttle response on both blade and drive motors for ultimate control,” said Tony Buxton, Senior Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool. “We will continue to deliver innovation to the Outdoor Power Equipment market through extensive user research combined with our technology leadership in battery, motor, and electronics.”

As much as I love gas motors, the upward trend of cordless lawn equipment has been very hard to ignore. The convenience of plug and play combined with the power of a gas motor, saving you time, energy, and money? Where do I sign up?

There have been reviews all over the internet about the new Milwaukee 18v FUEL Mower and I haven't really been able to see too many drawbacks, at least as it compares to a standard gas-powered mower. Check out this review from Pro tools review. Kenny does an outstanding job laying out the typical use case for something like this. He describes it as having "legitimate professional gas-replacement power and a build that can handle professional use", of course with some small caveats.  Below are some of the things spec-wise that I felt was interesting enough to highlight from Milwaukees Jan 17th, 2022 press release :

• More torque than competitors 200cc gas mowers
• Rear Wheel Self Propelled
• Variable speed capable
• Dual Battery
• Powerstate Brushless Motor
• Feature REDLINK PLUS Intelligence**
• True 21" cut capacity
• 3 in 1 capable for bagging mulching and side discharge
• Single Point Height Adjustment
• Front and side lights ensures 180 deg visibility
• Around 60 minutes of runtime
• Reaches 36v

**The REDLINK PLUS™ Intelligence allows the mower to achieve an instantaneous throttle response for blade and drive motors, increasing control and productivity.

The price point IS a little steep though, starting at around $999. But that does include everything you'll need - right out of the box including two 12.0Ah batteries with a fast charger that supports charging both batteries simultaneously and a bad-to-the-bone Milwaukee Mower.

Tell me what you think below. Do you think it's worth the price point? Could you get more value out of something like this compared to a cheaper gas mower? What are the drawbacks? I'd love to hear from you!
